Cheap travel plans for citizens can’t help the rumors of Juan Soto

The citizens of Washington do themselves no favors if they want to keep Juan Soto. At this point, they may also trade it in.

The Nats reportedly made Juan Soto take a cheap commercial flight to Los Angeles, instead of just flying him on a charter plane like most of the other All-Stars.

As it turns out, Washington will bid Soto a $440 million contract, but it won’t pay for a private jet. Who knew that was the line? Soto arrived in Los Angeles in the early hours of the Home Run Derby and won.

Citizens: Juan Soto flew an ad to the All-Star Game

While this makes his achievement all the more impressive, it still proves that they probably don’t appreciate it as much as they claim. All this according to Scott Borras, As said by Stephanie Epstein of Sports Illustrated:

The Atlanta Braves have arrived [in Los Angeles] Five hours before Juan Soto did,” Boras said, according to Sports Illustrated’s Stephanie Epstein. “You know why? Because their team chartered a plane. Juan Soto had to fly on a commercial flight, wait at the airport for two hours, get here at 1:30 in the morning and you have to compete in the Home Run Derby. And that’s something that Major League Baseball didn’t care about and that’s something that the Washington Nationals didn’t care about.”

Soto rejected Washington’s $440 million contract, their last offer, because his agency was unhappy with AAV in the deal, or the current ownership situation. The 23-year-old commented on the situation today, noting that he hadn’t actually met the new property team.

“To rebuild, first of all, we got to know the new owner. Nobody knows the new owners, so for me I would like to get the new owner and see what he has in mind…,” Soto said, per Jesse Dougherty of Washington Post.

So, as you can see, the nats haven’t come out with the big guns yet.
