The 49ers have finally given clearance to Jimmy Garoppolo to look for a deal, and these three teams should take it to the middle.
It was generally assumed that the San Francisco 49ers would be quick to trade quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo this season. However, this was not what happened.
Garoppolo underwent an unofficial operation on his shoulder that slowed the franchise as he recovered, bringing his commercial market to a boil. But now that many dominoes have fallen in the middle (if not all but Jimmy J), they’re ready to make their move.
As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, On Wednesday, the 49ers told Jimmy Garoppolo’s agents that they have permission to seek a deal for the quarterback. With training camps starting soon, teams will likely move quickly to seal a deal so they can get the veteran into the building.
With that in mind, these three teams should be eager to make a call on Garoppolo.
3. Jimmy Garoppolo Trade Rumors: Seahawks Need a QB Veteran
Perhaps the worst in the NFL at the moment is that the Seattle Seahawks shouldn’t be confident of what they’ll battle for their quarterback for the 2022 season. After the Russell Wilson trade, he left the franchise with Drew Lock and Geno Smith as primary options, neither of which had a record Successful as a beginner.
Seattle was long rumored to be in the mix to land Brown’s Baker Mayfield, but it ended up not going in that direction. They are now left saying they trust the Lock-Smith group, even though any football fan knows the front office in their right mind would never believe such a farce.
The tricky part, however, is that Garoppolo’s lure away from the 49ers would mean San Francisco would trade in the middle within the NFC West. As such, it likely means that the Seahawks will have to pay a premium if they want to strike a deal because you have to assume the Niners would prefer not to trade him to another team in the division.
However, it is a path that the Seahawks must explore. They need a reliable quarterback option, and while it’s not perfect, Garoppolo has proven it can be.
