The Boston Red Sox probably lost more of their pride on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Raphael Devers could be out for a while.
It seems the hits keep coming for the Boston Red Sox. As if losing to the Toronto Blue Jays 28-5 at Fenway Park wasn’t enough, the team may be without the services of their third star.
At the bottom of Friday’s fifth inning, Raphael Devers lined up to the left. In the next inning, he was removed from the game and replaced by Bobby Dalbeck.
according to Jane McCaffrey of The AthleticDevers felt a tight hamstring after that last one.
Jeter Downs is in the lineup and plays for third in today’s game against the Blue Jays. McCaffrey noted that Devers was not playing well early Friday’s game and wasn’t feeling well before Saturday’s game. Sox manager Alex Cora doesn’t seem optimistic that Devers may just need to rest, citing the possibility of a stint on the injured list.
Red Sox: Rafael Devers may need an IL مهمة mission
The prospect of staying on the extended casualty list doesn’t come at the best of times with so many players getting injured. Trevor Storey, Christian Arroyo, Kiki Hernandez and many more bowlers, all of whom are currently on the injured list. Devers is ahead of Downs, Yoimer Sanchez, and Dalbec on the third base depth chart.
Devers is also playing well now. Devers hits .324/.379/.602 with an OPS of .981. He has 29 doubles and one triples, 22 home runs, 62 points and a 55-point RBI record.
The Red Sox are fourth in the AL East region, 16.5 games after rival New York Yankees. The Jays are 13.5 games behind the Yankees. The Rex Sox lost three straight games before Saturday’s game. This game comes after an embarrassing 28-5 loss to the Jays on Friday.
This turn of events combined with other problems makes one wonder how active the club will be in the approaching August 2 trade deadline.
