Tarik Skubal’s trade rumors should pass with Luis Castillo now relocating and the other teams ready to look elsewhere to start helping the pitcher.
Tarik Skubal’s trade rumors may have kicked off an unexpected frenzy days before the MLB trade deadline. Several teams now seem ready to listen to performances on young, controllable starting pitchers, including the Detroit Tigers with one of their best armies.
Things haven’t worked out for the tigers this year despite being bought in bulk in the off-season. They haven’t compressed their attack all season which is why they are looking to quickly capitalize on the strong desire around the league from contenders to overpay to start assisting the bowler.
Where will the Tarik Skubal trade rumors lead us next? After the massive deal between the Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners titled Luis Castillo, these three teams should be ready to break the bank for Scobal.
1) Trade Rumors Tarik Skubal: The Yankees need to contact the Tigers now
Perhaps no one has missed getting Castillo more than the mighty New York Yankees. For weeks, they were a primary destination for Castillo. Unfortunately, they weren’t as willing to offer the Reds as the Mariners.
There are plenty of places the Yankees could go next. The Skubal is one of those young, controllable arms that they need to think hard to help boost their spin below the stretch.
For the Yankees, getting started with promotion was a major strength. Gerrit Cole’s ace-like performance for most of the year complements well with the success of Jordan Montgomery and Jameson Tellon. Nestor Cortes was the biggest and most fun surprise for them. Together, with Luis Severino, they were a great five-man team.
Severino is now on IL and there are questions about the health and durability of other starters. Skubal has minor league options as do some of the other starters currently on the rotation, including struggling German Domingo.
Skubal could provide insurance for the Yankees and allow even the weakest link in the rotation to make the roster and possibly take over the role Michael King had with the team before he went down for the year.
