Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Kenny Beckett showed some glimmers despite mixed opinions from the team’s training camp at La Trobe.
Beckett, despite being the most prepared potential client in this broker category, is still a novice. There must be a learning curve in its first year that adapts to the professional level.
So, when he faces the likes of Mitchell Trubesky and Mason Rudolph, he’ll understandably be a bit late in the early days of training camp.
Unfortunately, that’s not how Sports media works. Beckett’s panic scale is at an all-time high. It didn’t help that Beckett went to college at Pete, and replaced brilliant quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
This has the ingredients for a great all-time sports story, or another major disappointment.

When comparing Beckett to the likes of Rudolph and Trubsky, it helps put his problems into perspective. The early days of boot camp are an attack mod, especially the first year without Big Ben.
Defense, as in most training camps, had an early advantage when it faced all three quarterbacks.
However, there was a bright spot for Beckett that was missing for the likes of Trubisky and Rudolph – and that’s a throw neither of them can achieve even on their best day.
Plays like the above are what made Pickett a first-round pick in the first place. If he can consistently achieve this level of play, he will establish himself as a household name outside of Pittsburgh.
As always, there is more than meets the eye at an NFL training camp.
