Watch how the MMA community reacted to Stevie Ray defeating Anthony Pettis again, this time as part of the PFL Playoffs
Lightning struck twice to Stevie Ray. For the second time in less than two months, he has beaten Anthony Pettis – this time putting him close to the 2022 lightweight championship.
Ray will now battle Olivier Aubin-Mercier after defeating Alex Martinez in another LFL semi-final match.
After Ray pressed early, Pettis found himself in trouble late in the opening round, and was brought down by Ray. Ray Pettis closed in a deep north-south throttle that looked like he could knock out the former UFC champ. Pettis, to his credit, went out with energy and threw a small wave before the end of the first.
However, Pettis was not the most aggressive in the second round. In fact, Ray managed to take him down again and made it to Pettis’ back, where he stayed until the end of the round.
Even with his back against a wall, Pettis didn’t seem to get anything in the final round, as Ray briefly knocked him down again. Pettis tried shooting a small wave in the last seconds, but it was in vain.
