DWCS Week 4: Thomas Paul weighs in against Esteban Rebovex.
On Monday, August 15, 10 fighters vying for a UFC contract will make an impact Dana White Competition Series week 4.
After an exciting but unusual week 3 that saw Clayton Carpenter, Eric Silva and Jamal Boggs earn UFC contracts while world-renowned professional Bo Nickal secured his second DWCS fight for 2022, Week 4 will look to bring new blood into the UFC light and middleweight divisions, Bantamweight Women’s Bantamweight Division.
The main match of the fourth week of the DWCS World Championships is a light-hearted confrontation between Thomas “Leviathan” Paul and Esteban “El Gringo” Rebovex. Powell (11-3), the British lightweight 6th seed at Tabologie, will face one of the toughest challenges of his career at Ribofix (10-0). The unbeaten Rebofix is the No. 1 rated Argentinean Lightweight on Tapology and holds a 100 percent finish rate, with exactly half by knockout and the other half by surrender. It is the biggest favorite of the week 4 by a wide margin at -350.
In the fourth week of the DWCS, 10 competitors from four different divisions will fight for a chance at a highly coveted UFC contract.
The opening fight of the evening is another 155-pound fight between Nazim Sadkhov (6-1) and Ahmad Sohail Hassanzadeh (9-1). Despite being the second-largest candidate at -260, the artist by knockout Sadikov will face a more experienced and versatile opponent in Hasanzadeh. Of Hassanzadeh’s nine wins, five are by knockout and four by knockout, showing that he is just as dangerous on his feet as he is on the ground.
The second fight in DWCS Week 4 is the women’s bantamweight scrap between Texas Hayley Cowan “All Hill” (6-2) and Brazil’s Claudia Light (7-2), followed by the men’s bantamweight fight between Jack Cartwright (10-0) and Jose “Lobo” Solitario” Johnson (14-7).
The fourth and final fight before the main event is a middleweight bout between Claudio Ribeiro (9-2) and Evan “Bam Bam” Valenzuela (8-1). These fighters are only a few months apart, and the odds are roughly equal in this 185-pound engagement. While Ribeiro ended all of his fights by knockout, Valenzuela racked up three victories by surrendering and represented a double threat to Ribeiro.
