The Atlanta Braves are looking to get back into the winning streak when they face the Pittsburgh Pirates.
After dropping the final series at home on Sunday because the Day Braves will always go to the Day Braves, the Atlanta Braves will begin their week-long road trip with three against the Pittsburgh Pirates starting Monday night.
The Braves have won 11 of the last 13 teams since their watch was cleaned by the hated New York Mets two weeks ago. Atlanta are still a few games away from New York in the division, but the Braves haven’t lost to a team that hasn’t been called the Mets or the Houston Astros for the better part of a month now. With Pittsburgh still in the midst of a never-ending rebuilding process, Atlanta has to capitalize.
This is what the starting lineup might look like in the series’ opening match against the Pirates on Monday night.
Predict the Atlanta Braves starting lineup against the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 22
Atlanta needs to take advantage of the opportunity and put together a lineup that can take the first game.
- Ronald Acuña Jr.
- SS Dansby Swanson
- 3B Austin Riley
- 1B Matt Olson
- C. William Contreras
- DH Eddie Rosario
- 2B von Grissom
- CF Michael Harris II
- LF Robbie Grossman
For better or worse, Jake O’Dorrese will be Walking the Braves on Monday night…
Assuming manager Brian Snicker avoids introducing the walking strike known as Marcell Ozuna into the squad, he should roll with something like the list above. Since Ronald Acuña Jr. worked as a designated racket on Sunday afternoon, he should be back on the right field. Michael Harris should play second in midfield, while Robbie Grossman or Eddie Rosario play left field and DH in some order.
The other thing to watch is who gets to pick up. Travis Darno was behind the plate on Sunday afternoon after being the Saturday Night Champion in extra roles. Which is why it seems like a prime place for William Contreras to start playing behind the Atlanta board. Either way, the brave musk player will likely run into fifth or sixth place behind Matt Olson and around Rosario.
With a questionable starting pitcher on the hill, the brave will need to put in some kicks.
