Houston could be in for a big upgrade after Michael Konforto’s show

The Houston Astros have reportedly made a bid for free and former New York Mate quarterback Michael Conforto.

New York Mets player Michael Conforto is one of the biggest names in free agents still on the open market. During an off-season workout, Conforto injured his shoulder, and later underwent surgery. In order for Conforto to play in the post-season, he will have to sign for the team on Wednesday, August 31.

According to Pat Ragazzo of Fan NationConforto recently received a two-year contract offer worth $30 million from the Major League Soccer’s Houston Astros. Ragazzo also notes that although “several clubs linked to the qualifiers” have held talks with the Conforto team, “there is no indication that a deal is close”.

The Astros not only have the best record in the AL, but they have a pivotal playoff over the New York Yankees if things are going to get interesting at the end of the regular season. The Yankees were looking to improve their roster to keep up with the Astros on the trade deadline. However, Houston decided to boost their roster by adding catcher Christian Vasquez and first baseman Trey Mancini.

Looking at Houston, they could stand to add an outside player to push them past the season. Adding Conforto to the mix could make for a positive deal, depending on how your post-shoulder surgery is performed.

Conforto spent his entire career with the Mets, last playing in the 2021 campaign. Last year, the player recorded a batting average of 0.232, .729 OPS, 14 home runs, 55 RBI, and 94 hits in 125 games.

Deadline is on. If Conforto wants to be eligible for the post-season, he will have to sign at the end of August 31.
