Alex Cora delivers a frustrating update to the main bulls arm

The Boston Red Sox have been crumbling before our eyes all season, and this update from Alex Cora will be another cause for concern.

The Boston Red Sox Bullpen has been the victim of several meltdowns this season, and Alex Cora provided an update that makes it look even more prone to a meltdown. According to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, Cora shared that Tanner Hook is likely to have back surgery.

Hawk’s season is likely over, which will make closing matches even more difficult for the Red Sox.

Fortunately, there are a few other jugs to rely on that might be able to catch the Red Sox.

There is still hope for a few pitchers of Red Sox

Hawke was among some of Boston’s best commentators. This season, he has produced an ERA of 3.15, a hitter average of 0.226 and a WHIP of 1.18. It was a frequent relief jug.

However, there are other options that may be able to hold the team together. Garrett Whitlock, for example, is also dependable and has had a decent season. In some areas, it was better than Hook. Whitlock has produced an ERA of 3.19, a BAA of .217 and a WHIP of 1.00 this season.

There’s also John Schreiber, who has been better than Whitlock and Hawke this season. Schreiber produced an ERA of 2.18, a BAA of .188 and a WHIP of 0.91.

However, the Red Sox do not rank well in the league with their bowlers. They have the sixth worst league ERA (4.57), opponent’s average hit (.254) and WHIP (1.34). Although a few other bowlers can be counted on, Hawk’s absence will certainly be noticeable and Boston could use whatever help they can get against teams that rank much higher.
