FBI questioned Brett Favre in welfare fraud case

Brett Favre has been questioned by the FBI about more than $1 million he received from Mississippi for speaking out about an unprecedented appearance.

Former Packers legend Brett Favre is under a microscope for his involvement in a welfare fraud investigation that rocked Mississippi.

According to NBC NewsFavre received $1.1 million from federal “families in need” welfare funds in 2017 and 2018 for speaker posts.

the problem? A government auditor found that Favre had not given the motivational speeches he was paid to give.

Favre appears to have paid the speaking fee but still owes the state $228,000 in interest claimed by the auditor.

Brett Favre in heated situation over welfare fraud investigation

The former midfielder had previously denied any wrongdoing on Twitter when allegations of embezzlement first surfaced. His attorney confirmed to NBC News that the FBI questioned Favre about the matter. He maintains that he did nothing illegal and was not accused of a crime.

Even if Favre did not commit a crime, it is still strange that the state of Mississippi offered to pay him that kind of money for letters intended to motivate families in need. That money would surely be more valuable to those families than the midfielder who made over a hundred million dollars in his football career.

Perhaps Favre should have questioned his worth in this case.

This all goes deeper than modern appearances though. Attorney Brad Piggott, who was fired by the state of Mississippi after filing a lawsuit on behalf of the state welfare agency to compensate for misuse of fun, has questions for Favre.

“It is all still largely a mystery as to why Mr Favre has made millions of dollars in TANF welfare money, in exchange for a fee for speeches he did not give, plus $2 million to go to a company that has been the biggest,” Piggott told NBC News. An outside individual investor and $5 million for his university to play volleyball in a volleyball building.”

Favre isn’t the only footballing figure who’s wrapped up in all of this. Marcus Dupre, a former high school football phenom and Oklahoma star, reportedly received $370,000 in welfare money for his horse farm.
