It’s still entirely possible for the Orioles to compete for a playoff spot, but their current series against the Toronto Blue Jays definitely makes it that much more difficult. This led to the emptying of the seats and stalls of the bulls after Baker began to walk alongside the Blue Jays in Camden Yards Tuesday night.
Even if the Orioles celebrate early, the Blue Jays are currently still top in the series – but the Orioles can tie in if they win Wednesday night’s game. They are only three games behind Toronto, and if they advance to third place in the standings, it will be their first time since 2014, and they are ahead of Toronto.
However, even if the Orioles climb to third, they are unlikely to finish above Toronto.
Blue Jays will probably end up over the Orioles in the Middle East
The Blue Jays are currently on their way to pass the Tampa Bay Rays. It’s just one game behind the Rays, so it’s possible that they could get past them. However, they may not stay over Tampa Bay. They started a five-game streak against the Rays on Monday, which could directly change the standings.
The Rays are having a good season, so it’s hard to say exactly what will happen. However, no matter what happens in the standings, the Orioles likely won’t be able to stay above Toronto until the end of the regular season.
Although the Orioles have experienced one of their most impressive seasons in recent years, that may not be enough to beat the titans of the East. However, an upcoming series against the Red Sox could give them a boost within the divisions.
