Daniel Rodriguez doesn’t worry about Kevin Holland’s careless talk

Daniel Rodriguez has heard real trash talk before.

Daniel Rodriguez (16-2) is super excited and unconcerned about what’s coming out of Kevin Holland’s mouth in their upcoming 180-pound fight at UFC 279. A big match for the two fighters looking to break into the top 15 loaded welterweight titles. Rodriguez answered the question about a talk Holland trash live at UFC 279 media day.

“He talks a lot about trash and ends up doing it; I don’t think it’s going to affect me that much. I grew up in Los Angeles,” he told the media on Wednesday. “I went to the LA Unified School District, juvenile hall, and LA County Jail. If you’re not talking about trash, you’re toasting, brother, really.”

Holland is notorious for talking about trash before and during his fights, but Rodriguez wants to fight back.

“I’ve never been the talkative type; I’m more about this business,” he said.

Daniel Rodriguez Isn’t Worried About His Hand ‘I Throw This Thing Like A Hammer’

This will be Rodriguez’s first fight in just over a year due to a hand injury.

“Don’t worry, I’ve been throwing this thing like a hammer for the past couple of months,” Rodriguez said when asked if he had concerns about how to raise his hand.

When asked about the main event, Rodriguez was excited.

“I heard this was Nate Diaz’s last fight in the UFC. I’m so amazed to be a part of it. I’m going to do my best to steal all the fans. I’ll probably fire a joint out there; you never know,” he said. “It means a lot to California and the culture among Mexican Americans. A man of style, he smokes cannabis, his behavior, his personality, his things.”

“It’s from Norcal,” he said, “but I see myself as the L.A. version.”
