MLB is the only major North American sport to award two Player of the Year awards (one for each league) and in 2022, that is certainly warranted.

Unlike almost all major sports, MLB has two MVP awards with one for the MLS and one for the National League. In 2022, there are some clear favorites in both leagues. In the AL, there are two obvious riders, and in NL, there is a first rider with some other guys who are fairly close to him.

Below are our strength rankings for all of the MLB MVP nominees for the 2022 season.

All stats are currently in play on Thursday, September 8th

Power Rankings 2022 AL and NL MVP

10) Astros outfielder / designated hitter Jordan Alvarez

Yordan Alvarez was one of the sport’s best offensive players for the best MLS team: the Houston Astros.

He hit .289 by .393 on the base (third in the AL) and .581 slowdown, also third in the AL. He finished fourth in the league he played 31 times, while his 82nd RBI team finished sixth in the AL. It has OPS + 176, which is the second best. He’s not higher on our list because NL has some really great candidates, lost some time to injury (18 games total), and was almost exclusively from DH.

This is part of the reason for having a file fWAR is 4.7He is seventh among the center players in the AL.

9) Third base guard Jose Ramirez

Jose Ramirez, captain of the Cleveland Guardians’ third team, is considered one of the best players in the MLS in recent years. He has been a finalist in the AL MVP vote for three of the past five seasons and has been voted sixth in one of the other seasons as well. This year is no exception to his superiority.

He hit .277 with 0.349 OBP and 0.527 slowdown, the latter being sixth in the AL. He has 26 home runs and 108 RBI, which is already the highest of his career and the second highest in the AL. He also leads the league with 39 doubles and has 14 stolen bases.

Its fWAR is 5.3, which is the third highest among players in the AL.
