Scott Frost launched: the best memes and tweets

Twitter reacted to the news that the Nebraska Cornhuskers had fired coach Scott Frost after five years on the job.

Entering the 2022 season, the head coach’s seat has never been hotter than that of Scott Frost. He is set to bring his winning ways from Central Florida to his alma mater. The thing is, the Cornhuskers didn’t even have a winning record at the end of each of their first four seasons. This made Year Five that much more important for Frost to finally turn things around.

Instead, Nebraska lost two of its first three games of the season. The second loss came on Saturday, as Frost fell to Clay Hilton and the Georgia Southern Eagles 45-42.

On Sunday, just before the NFL kicks off, the Cornhuskers officially launched Team Frost.

Twitter Reacts to Scott Frost, Nebraska Shooting Coach

After the news was announced, reactions poured into Twitter.

As many have said, it was the appointment that was supposed to help revive the Cornhuskers football program. Instead, it turned into a disaster.

The Cornhuskers had their best season in 2019, as they actually ranked 24th nationally at one point. But they finished the year with a score of 5-9 and did not appear in the bowl game.

Frost’s run came to an end after Nebraska couldn’t hold on to a 42-38 lead late in the fourth quarter, as Georgia South managed to walk the field and score the green light. There was hope for Frost, as the team managed to make it to goal range. But they missed the 52-yard attempt, and the loss was settled.

Nebraska chose not to save $7.5 million by waiting until October 1, and decided to purchase the Frost contract for $15 million.

In general, Frost leaves the program with a record of 16-31.

Now, the Cornhuskers will lead Mickey Joseph, the team’s passing games coordinator and wide receivers coach, on an interim basis for the remainder of the season.
