Bill Belichick thought of trading Tom Brady before Super Bowl XLIX

According to Tom House, Bill Belichick took a look at the extra-throw mechanics and grilled the House on whether or not he should trade Tom Brady in 2014.

In the past, when people would look at Tom Brady, they didn’t often We see for him.

He was overlooked in the draft, ignored by analysts during the junior season, and even overlooked when he approached the age of 40.

Brady had a vision that he would play until he was 45, but few others shared that view. Max Kellerman predicted a cliff that’s yet to come – Brady just hooked up with Julio Jones for the longest pass in pirate history in Tampa Bay three days ago.

And now, it turns out that Bill Belichick has also been blinded by Brady’s advanced age.

House joined the Rich Eisen Show and revealed what Belichick said to House and Brady in 2014, the year Brady turned 37:

“By the time I got to Tom Brady, and walked past Belichick’s office one time when we were in the field throwing a soccer ball, Belichick called us and said, ‘Okay, tell me why I shouldn’t trade Tom Brady.’”

At this time, I believe Brady was between 37 and 36 years old. And I said, “Well, Bill, the research shows that if Tom does what he’s supposed to do, all of those four things I just mentioned, that he did with a tee, there’s no reason he can’t play until he’s 45.

We are here.”

Tom House saved Tom Brady from being cut by Bill Belichick before the Patriots-Sea Hawks Super Bowl

Seeing House offers a few things for Patriots fans who are curious about what Brady’s life was like during the last decade of his life in New England.

First, he alludes to reports that Belichick fully intended to succeed Jimmy Garoppolo Brady. Garoppolo was drafted in 2014, if Brady was 36 and approaching 37, he would have had this very conversation. Apparently Belichick was doing the work to put together a succession plan for Brady with the idea that Brady was on his way out. As fate would have it, Brady would beat Garoppolo because he held out more than anyone else.

This also confirms the tensions that were said to have prompted Brady to leave New England. House is sure assures Belichick that Brady can play until he’s 45, but subsequent actions indicate that Belichick hasn’t accepted that he’s really going to play for that long. There’s also the fact that New England failed to implant a proper offense for Brady, causing some analysts to mistake his 2019 season as signs of aging. One episode of the Bucs Super Bowl series with Mike Evans later, this is clearly completely wrong.

Then there’s the fact that House was right about everything. The former MLB player talked about how he changed baseball by training Texas Rangers pitchers in his 40s, and brought that pitching prowess to football and “consistent” Drew Bryce. The fact that House admires Mac Jones’ evolution says a lot about how he was also underestimated by a lot of onlookers.

Time is undefeated, but so far is Tom Brady, nearly a decade after being shipped off from New England.
