Kenan Thompson’s new talent hunt includes virtual reality (TV news report)

Comedian and “SNL” veteran Kenan Thompson, after hosting this year’s Primetime Emmys, returned to stage Thursday night in Atlanta, kicking off the thirteenth edition of “Kenan Presents The Ultimate Comedy Showcase” — and this time with a little extra. New technological wrinkles.

Production began on the Tubi Original Movie “Spread” starring Elizabeth Gillies, Harvey Keitel, Diedrich Bader, Brian Craig, Terry Polo, Blake Harrison, Tim Rosen, and Keith Walker. The film is taken from Cartel Pictures and is scheduled to premiere in 2023.

Gillis plays an aspiring journalist who gets a temporary job at an adult magazine run by an aging king of industry, played by Keitel, grappling with her ideals as she works to help the company succeed. The film is directed by Ellie Kanner, written and co-produced by Buffy Sharlet, as well as stars Dia Frampton, Jonah Platt and Diora Bird.

The plot is inspired by screenwriter Charlett’s real-life experience as a temporary employee at Hustler magazine, where she eventually rose to become an editor, and is produced by Gillies, and produced by Stan Spry, Eric Scott Woods, and Graem Luis.

TheGrio has announced that “Masters of the Game” will premiere on Friday, September 30 at 8 PM EST/PT and will air the original episodes every last Friday of the month on TheGrio cable channel. Writer and journalist Tori hosts one-on-one talks on each episode, and first guests will feature tennis star Frances Tiafoe in his first full length interview since the US Open and first-ever black female NFL coach Jennifer King.

Future guests on the show will include director Tyler Perry, NBA coach Doc Rivers and Debbie Allen, among others. The show is executive produced by Cash Alexander. Christina Faith also directs and produces.

Canela Media has announced that its new documentary series “Mi Vida,” its second original project featuring celebrity direct stories about their lives, will premiere on November 10.

The first part of the documentary series will air in 2022, and Kate del Castillo will feature in the first episode, with four additional episodes released per week before the end of the year. The second part, consisting of five additional episodes, will begin in the first quarter of 2023. In addition to del Castillo, other stars who will appear in “Mi Vida” episodes include Manolo Cardona, Ludwica Paletta, Gincarlos Canela, Julian Gill, and Roslin. Sanchez, Guy Ecker, Gabe Espino and Danny Trejo.

Crackle Plus’ original series “Wedding Talk” with hosts Tara Lipinski, Jose Rollon and Geoff Meyer will begin on October 13 on the streaming service.
