NFLPA investigates Tua Tagovailoa’s injury, why he was allowed back into the Dolphins-Bills

The NFL Player’s Association has launched an investigation into the Miami Dolphins over the handling of Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion screening.

The Miami Dolphins remained undefeated during Week 3, as they went on to defeat the Buffalo Bills 21-19 as time expired to prevent their opponents attempting a field goal. But in the match, one of the big stories to watch was the case of midfielder Tua Tagovailoa, who was left in the first half with a head injury. Tagovailoa is shown on camera trying to get up, but stumbles. The thing is that Tagoviloa came back in the second half.

After the game, NFL Network’s Tom Pellisero reported that the NFL Players Association launched an investigation into the dolphins for their handling of the Tagovailoa concussion examination.

Pelicero notes that the player, the NFLPA and NFL board of directors can file a complaint about the handling of the concussion protocol, which will lead to an investigation.

After the match, Tagovailoa said in the play before the blow that led to him leaving the match, he stretched his lower back excessively. Then on the hit in question, the quarterback said he hit his back first, then his head, and said the back injury was the reason he struggled to get up.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said in his press-match speech that the back injury was caused by an offside midfield, which is why Tagovailoa’s legs were wobbly.

After exiting the game for a while, Pelissero notes, according to the NFL-NFLPA Concussion Protocolthat physicians determined that the ‘gross motor instability’ in Tagovailoa was not due to neurological causes.

In the game, Tagoviloa completed 13 of 18 pass attempts for 186 yards and one touchdown.

While Dolphins and Tagovailoa claim it was a back injury that forced him to leave, the NFLPA wants to know if that was the case and that concussion protocol was followed.
