Addressing former Detroit Lions attack Terrell Crosby reflects on his misdiagnosis of a spinal injury following seeing Tua Tagovailoa’s injuries.
There have been several former NFL players and professional athletes who have had their careers reversed after seeing Tua Tagovailoa come down Thursday night with troubling symptoms indicating a serious brain injury.
Although there is still a lot to understand about what happened to Tagovailoa, the Detroit Lions’ former offensive tackle told his story when he saw Tagovailoa injured for the second time this week.
Crosby, who played for the Lions from 2018 to 2021, explained why he suffered Tagovailoa’s injuries “personally” in a series of tweets in which he explained what he went through himself.
When a fan responded saying the team likely cared more about the money than the player’s well-being, Crosby said a member of the Lions’ medical staff echoed that sentiment exactly.
Crosby himself expressed that sentiment, too, republishing an article from early this summer in the Detroit Free Press about how his situation with lions had developed.
On another Twitter post, Crosby spoke about how he described the temporary black coach’s severe headache after an epidural injection. Crosby’s condition gradually worsened on Saturday, and a member of the Lions medical staff told him to wait until Monday to be evaluated by a physical trainer.
Crosby described having a panic attack so severe that he over-breathed on the floor and fainted:
“I felt so lonely, headaches and my whole body kept feeling worse and worse all day and into the night. I was really afraid to sleep because I didn’t know if I was going to wake up. I cried all day and all that night in terror.”
Eventually, Crosby compared his symptoms to WebMD and became concerned about a possible leak of spinal fluid from an epidural injection. He arrived at the hospital to schedule a blood patch appointment. According to Crosby, when the coach found out about all this a few days later, he was “baffled” because Crosby was in “torturous misery.”

Crosby continued to praise former Lions coach Dave Granito for putting the player’s health first, although Crosby believes that’s why the Lions split from Granito last August.
Speaking with the Detroit Free Press, Crosby stated that general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell told him it was “bad for the team” because he sat out of Ota in 2021 due to injury. Additionally, Crosby said that Holmes later “sarcastically thanked him” for “playing through an injury I thought I had” when the team waived him, SI.
