There were some baffling calls in the fifth week of the college football season. Here are three of the worst.

We got another college football on Saturday. Fans are watching their favorite teams and we hope you get a real win for your weekend off to the right start. With that said, there will be some criticism of the referee in the game, whether or not you’re a fan of a team on the wrong end of the call.

Fanbase or not, there were some really baffling calls in the fifth week of the 2022 college football season. Here are three of the weekend’s worst calls.

3. Phantom fair catch and lost PI/targeting during TCU-OU

The TCU Horned Frogs defeated the Oklahoma Sooners primarily in the first half, putting in 41 points and 479 yards of attack during the first two quarters of the game. However, the horned frogs have been employed by two questionable calls.

One call was a missed pass and a potential targeting call back for defensive back Trey Morrison, who hit tight end Geor’quarius Spivey high.

But perhaps the most egregious was the late second quarter when wide receiver Derius Davis returned a penalty. However, officials decided that he advocated fair hunting. Well, judge for yourselves.

You can understand why TCU coach Sonny Dykes was upset by the call. But, it sure did help that the Horned Frogs score a touchdown on that engine to extend their lead to 41-17.
