With Matt Rhule out, and the Carolina Panthers likely to trade players and acquire future assets, the Dallas Cowboys should not sit back and instead try to make a move.
On Monday, the Carolina Panthers fired head coach Matt Rowley, and the Dallas Cowboys celebrate their victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Two completely different scenarios, but there is a chance that they could do business together sooner rather than later.
With Rhule out, there is a possibility that many of the players on the Panthers roster will be moved to get more demo capital to help the next system try to restore stability to the franchise.
Meanwhile, to the dismay of Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, said that Dallas is in the process of searching for the Lombardi Cup and ending two decades of disappointment. They have many young pieces on their team but they need more help, and the window of opportunity is closing.
The Dallas Cowboys should seriously consider the Carolina Panthers but only for select players
There’s no way the Dallas Cowboys would trade for Christian McCaffrey, so don’t start to think that far away. However, other players, including the stars, may be useful to the team at this point.
Dallas needs help with linebackers, linebackers/safety, defensive end positions, offensive line and receiver positions. Why full-back and final defensive positions? The centre-back is relatively thin and needs strengthening. Furthermore, without Randy Gregory, there isn’t much depth behind the stars, allowing for more spins and a fresh passing dash. Dorance Armstrong is good but it doesn’t change the rules of the game.
Meanwhile, offensively, a single injury could be the difference in disaster. This is why offensive line assist and possibly another weapon of Dallas attack can play a role, but mostly trenchers.
Having said that, let’s look at four, not three, four guys the Cowboys should consider making a phone call to, starting with an interesting choice.
