Some baseball fans tuned in to Game 3 between the San Diego Padres and the New York Mets and were convinced bowler Joe Musgrove was using an illegal substance.
On Saturday, three of the four Wild Card series finished in sweeps. The only series that was not between the New York Mets and the San Diego Padres. After the Padres took Game 1, the Mets took Game 2 behind an excellent performance by ace Jacob deGrom. Sunday was Game Three, a win-or-home contest that will determine who will play for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS.
On Padres Hill was Joe Musgrove, who scored a 2.93 ERA, 10-7 record, and 1.08 WHIP in 30 regular season games started. During the game, some baseball fans indicated that they believed Musgrove had an illegal substance in his right ear.
Mets manager Buck Showalter decided at the bottom of the sixth inning that he wanted the umpires to check Musgrove for any material. After examining his gloves and ears, the judges determined that there was no sticky substance in his ear.
Mets fans think Joe Musgrove was cheating in Game 3
Mets fans weren’t so happy when the umpires decided Musgrove didn’t have any illegal substance in his ear.
Let’s just say Musgrove wasn’t too happy the Mets wanted him to be checked out by the judges. Immediately after the inspection, Musgrove hit Thomas Nido. That’s when he looked toward the Mets’ lair, and wiped his nose.
At that point in the match, Padres was ahead 4-0 after hitting Austin Nola’s solos in the second, Trent Grisham’s RBI song in the fourth, and Manny Machado’s RBI song in the fifth.
Showalter noticed Musgrove’s ears, as did baseball fans, and decided to examine them. There was nothing. Musgrove was on fire Sunday night in the elimination match.
