The Seattle Mariners went back all-time to overtake the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL Wild Card Series’ Best of Three.
After getting his first game in Toronto, Seattle found itself 8-1 down to the Blue Jays in a must-win game for the home team. The massive meltdown was caused in part by George Springer colliding with Beau Pechet on a volleyball late in the game. Seattle will overcome the seven-game deficit to win Game 2 10-9 to advance to ALDS. They will face the Houston Astros in the division on Tuesday.

Not since 2001 has the Mariners missed a historic season for the New York Yankees in the ALCS, as Seattle has had a post-season baseball experience. Although the Sailors did not win the division, they were ranked No. 5 in the AL. This put them in a three-way streak of the Blue Jays with the winner going on to face #1 seed and world championship favorites Houston at ALDS.
You see a Toyota employee in Seattle walking around wearing an Ichiro Suzuki number 51 jersey. Keep in mind that 2001 was the future hall of the junior season for farmers from Japan. He’s won the AL Rookie of the season, as well as the AL MVP. This is a testament to how long it’s really been since Seattle experienced the October postseason baseball in all its splendor.
After seeing the sailors really pull off the comeback, the three staff members put their arms around each other and danced in a circle like the Mariners did this season to celebrate victories.
