The Mets have won one playoff since practicing for the World Championship

The Mets practicing winning the world championship might be the closest they’ll ever get

I think the New York Mets might have invited Nathan Fielder to the NL Wild card series against the San Diego Padres because practicing to win the world championship might be the closest they’ll ever get.

Yep, remember that time the Mets went into full swing and practiced to win the championship spring training?

Here’s activating your memory.

I all fantasize about your victories, but come on, that’s just cliched. Spring training is about getting the body in shape and ready to go, not to install yourself as a winner before you even play the game of essence.

That’s like buying an engagement ring before you get a date.

And how, exactly, did this practice work with the Mets? Not great.

How many games have the Mets won since this experience? one only.

Since the celebration’s rehearsal in March 2021, the Mets have won only one game post-season, the only game they’ve snuck out of the Padres on this year’s Wild Card tour. They failed to qualify for the post-season at all in 2021.

The Mets are in luck because the shape is the best of the three. If it was a sudden death, they wouldn’t even be able to score a single win.

After leading the NL East for much of the season and winning 101 games, they didn’t even advance to the divisional role, losing to Padres 89 wins.

Meanwhile, the town’s rival Yankees – who the Mets will always be compared to whether they like it or not – have their goodbyes and are favored in the Divisional Round to get to the ALCS.

While fans thought this might be the year we got a rematch in the Yankees-Mets Subway Series World Championship, the Mets didn’t stop the end of the deal. Not even close.

At least there’s only five months left until the Mets can return to rehearsal.
