Week six of the college football season is over, and there have been some big storylines, like Alabama surviving against Texas A&M, Texas shutting down Oklahoma, and TCU continuing its undefeated season with a win over Kansas.
As we reported last week, there have been some injuries to some of the top potential players in the upcoming NFL Draft class. This continued into the sixth week.
There are two massive omissions from this week’s column – Bryce Young of Alabama and Will Levis of Kentucky. The reason for the absence is simple, it is not played due to injury.
Young left last week’s game against Arkansas due to a sprained joint. Although he was not left out of the Week 6 game against Texas A&M and was on the field, Galen Millereau received the start.
Levis dislocated his middle finger during the team’s week five loss to the Ole Miss Rebels. While this injury was still present, Levis was also seen wearing boots on his left foot. Regardless, he did not play against South Carolina. Instead, it was Kaiya Sheron who started. Kentucky lost 24-14.

Taking Stock: How Successful the QBs 2023 NFL Draft in Week 6
CJ Stroud, Ohio
It’s CJ Stroud’s world, and everyone lives in it. Ohio State Bucks, as we mentioned, are a machine capable of making powerful defenses seem hopeless. The latest team to struggle to put an end to the inevitable has been the Michigan State Spartans.
Video game numbers. That’s what Stroud put forward last Saturday. It looks like he’s playing rookie mode in Madden NFL 23. The touchdown passes looked easy for Stroud. Quite effortless.
When it comes to the best gameplay in the game, it wasn’t a touchdown pass. Instead, it was a side pass to Marvin Harrison Jr., which he threw off his back foot. Remember that last part, because the throw was a perfect drop in the bucket that was Harrison’s hands.
Stroud completed 21 of 26 pass attempts for 361 yards and six touchdowns, while throwing one interception.
If Stroud keeps this up, he could be the undisputed top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. NFL teams should prepare the tank, if they need a quarterback in the future.

Tyler Van Dyke, Miami
What a bounce back game for Tyler Van Dyke. Back in Week 4 against Middle Tennessee, Van Dyck threw objections to the first two installments of the game. It was eventually placed in favor of Jake Garcia.
If the quarterback wants to perform well, who is better off facing him than the North Carolina Tar Heels and their defense gate?
One of Van Dyck’s best throws happened late in the second quarter. He rolled outwards to the right, armed an oncoming defender and made a pass across his body to Henry Parish Jr. to land, trimming their deficit to 21-14.
Van Dijk tried to bring Hurricanes into goal range with less than a minute left in the system while he was 27-24, but as he searched for his future on the field, his pass was tilted into the line of scrimmage. This allowed North Carolina’s Deandre Boykins to intercept the pass.
Van Dyck threw for 496 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception while completing 42 of 57 passing attempts. He was named ACC Player of the Week, with his passing yards being Mostly against FBS opponent this season.

Anthony Richardson, Florida
There wasn’t much to say about Anthony Richardson in Week 6. That’s because the Florida Gators didn’t pass the ball much when they faced the Missouri Tigers, the same team that upset the Georgia Bulldogs the previous week.
At the beginning of the first quarter, Richardson received a very dangerous throw, as he tried to communicate with Justin Shorter. The thing is, Richardson didn’t see defensive back Enes Rakestrau Jr, who jumped right in front of Schurter and almost caught him.
Richardson showed his playmaking ability, running out of pocket, opening a high-speed pass to Ricky Pearsall for the touchdown.
On 14 pass attempts, Richardson threw eight completions for 66 yards and a touchdown, while throwing one interception. This objection was not Richardson’s fault. Instead, the defender snatched the football out of Birsal’s hands and secured the interception.
Richardson ran five times for 45 yards, with his longest running 32 yards.

Hendon Hooker, Tennessee
There is a new addition to the weekly column and it is due. Hendon Hooker plays at an unrealistic level this season for the undefeated Tennessee Volunteers and is the favorite to win the Heisman Cup this season. He’s also getting some love from scouts and climbing on draft boards, ESPN’s Todd McShie noted in a tweet on September 27.
Therefore, it is only appropriate to add Hooker to the column.
The LSU Tigers finished eighth in Tennessee at #25 in week six, and showed why he’s gotten so much love from Heisman this year. Look no further than a 45-yard touchdown pass to Jalin Hyatt to give Tennessee a 20-0 lead. Just look at the perfect helix within sight, and it has completely landed in Hyatt’s hands. Ten cents.
Hooker completed 17 of 27 pass attempts for 239 yards and two touchdowns while running 56 yards on 10 stands, measuring long at 26 yards.
Over the course of the year, Hooker threw 1,432 yards, 10 touchdowns, and zero interceptions, while completing 70.0 percent of his passes. He also hit 231 yards and three touchdowns in 45 runs.
Hooker is now facing Alabama’s Crimson Tide 3 in Week 7. If he’s going to lead the Volunteers to victory and put in big numbers, this could be a Heisman moment.

One 2023 NFL Draft QB sleeper who caught the eye in Week 6
Max Duggan, University of California
The quarterback who could be the sleepover quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft that had a hype-worthy performance was TCU Horned Frogs Senior Max Duggan.
TCU entered Week 6 undefeated and on the road against the Kansas Jayhawks, who earned the ESPN College GameDay spot after beating Iowa State the previous week. Then they got into a shootout against Kansas.
Duggan showed his relationship to wide receiver Quintin Johnston, who had 14 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown. The big also showed what he could do with his legs, running 55 yards and landing on nine buggies.
In the end, it was Duggan’s pass to Johnston with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. The driveway was beautiful.
In the year, Duggan completed 73.2 percent of his passes for 1,305 yards and 14 touchdowns, while only throwing one interception. Duggan also ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns on 32 buggies.
One 2023 NFL Draft QB Who Needs To Show More Teams After Week 6
Tyler Van Dyke, Miami
This is not a negative towards Van Dyck. He’s had a great week 6. It’s about showing consistency between matches. He needs to put in a strong showing against the Virginia Tech Hokies in Week 7.

Carolina Panthers may have option #1 closed. Quarterback Baker Mayfield didn’t play well against the San Francisco 49ers, and he suffered a sprained ankle that would tip him off for the foreseeable future. Less than a day later, the Panthers fired head coach Matt Rowley, and appointed Steve Wilkes as his replacement for the remainder of the year. It may only be a matter of time until the team goes on a sale to secure the best draft pick.
When it comes to the Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers, they won’t be in the market for a quarterback. Derek Carr is not the reason why the Raiders lost games. The Steelers just drafted Kenny Beckett this year, and let’s face it, they need talent Everywhere in the list.
The Detroit Lions and the Washington and Houston Texans captains should be looking at their quarterbacks this spring. Detroit, while a good story, has a terrible defense, and they couldn’t put up any points against the New England Patriots last week. The leaders remain stuck at the bottom of the NFC East while the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants achieve early success. The Texans, like the Steelers, need talent all around, and Davis Mills may not be the long-term solution in the middle. Fortunately for Houston, they will have two first-round picks this year, so they can get their quarterback and best available player.
Atlanta still needs to know the answer to Desmond Ryder, and it is unknown when coach Arthur Smith will start him. Marcus Mariota hasn’t turned in football once against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so no change for now.
The Seattle Seahawks proved the skeptics wrong, as did Gino Smith, which sounds like the real deal. If he continues, it could be the start of the foreseeable future in Seattle.
