Watch Cub Swanson’s unique media day interview (video)

Cuban Swanson will make his bantamweight debut at UFC Vegas 62.

Cuban Swanson always knows how to put on a show. The veteran Fight 40 veteran has spent a lot of media days during his 18-year professional career, so he’s decided to “relax his voice,” tagging Dan Argueta for answering questions to him leading up to UFC Vegas 62, creating an entertainment spectacle for the media day.

“The cub is trying to relax his voice a little bit,” Argueta told Swanson. “He had a lot of phone calls and interviews to do, so I decided to finish it. He wanted to test me and see if I would answer everything correctly for him.”

Argueta is familiar with the UFC Media Day process, making his first entry into the Octagon in June, dropping a fight with Damon Jackson by decision. His performance as Swanson’s medium was much better than the aforementioned fight.

“The cub started losing weight about four or five months ago,” Argueta said. “We went in, and we did all the appropriate steps. He took the test here at the main institute. We took the test together to see where we both stand when we drop to 35 [135 pounds]And, all in all, he felt he needed the next challenge. Sacrifice more for sport.

By any account, Swanson has sacrificed a lot for mixed martial arts. Since joining the UFC in 2011, he’s earned some of the biggest names in the sport. The Octagon has been involved with individuals such as Frankie Edgar, Jeremy Stevens, Max Holloway, and Brian Ortega. He even beat former champions Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira. However, this is his first bantamweight competition and it will be a new look for the veteran.

“I think he’s happy with that,” Argueta said. “His weight feels better than mine and I think we made the right decision so far.”

Jonathan Martinez will welcome Swanson to the bantamweight division

Jonathan Martinez is riding a triple win streak and is looking to add a big name to his resume. Since joining the UFC back in 2018, he’s set a 7-3 record, drawing the attention of many who claim he’s likely to watch.

“I think Cub is his biggest, toughest match he can get. Cub is the biggest name he’s faced. We’re here to bring the war. We’re looking for a first-round KO. We have seafood reservations.”
