The Bears helmets were the talk of the game Thursday in football as Chicago debuted with orange caps that split opinions on the NFL Twitter.
The confrontation between the Bears and the leaders at Thursday Night Football isn’t going to get people talking much. Instead, fashion was the point of discussion.
Chicago debuted its alternative helmets on Thursday, combining white shorts and orange shirts with a bright orange helmet.
College football fans can accuse the Bears of being too much like Clemson. NFL fans couldn’t agree on whether this was a good or a bad thing.
NFL Twitter had thoughts about the Bears helmet
Color wasn’t the only story associated with helmets in the game.
In the first quarter, quarterback Justin Fields threw a pass from the helmet of a defensive line captain. It popped into the air and was intercepted near the goal line.
Uniforms can be cool or awful, but what really matters is how the team plays in them. On one level, the Bears played well in the first half as Fields led his team inside the 10 multiple times. However, Chicago could not hit the ball. The helmet interception ended once. The fourth stop and the next inch are over.
The Bears may have lost the last two games but they were on their way to the Giants and Vikings. Furthermore, each defeat was with only one possession. Chicago on Thursday came unbeaten in two home games this season, beating the 49ers in Week 1 and Texas two weeks later.
Back at Soldier Field for action Thursday night, the Bears’ goal was to make a statement with their helmets and performances. The question remains as to whether this statement is positive.
