Carolina Panthers are seeking a ransom king in a possible trade for Christian McCaffrey

The Carolina Panthers are reportedly seeking multiple picks in the first round to trade Christian McCaffrey, but the team faces a tough reverse market in 2023.

Former Panthers coach sacked Matt Rowley It seems to have sparked the beginning of a rebuilding of the franchise, with no movement more extreme than the trading star pulling back on Christian McCaffrey.

Reports are now coming in from NFL insiders that the Panthers are considering a deal for their offensive position, especially since the center carousel hasn’t finished off as the team had hoped. McCaffrey, who hasn’t seen the playoffs since his 11-5 season, has done everything in his power to hold the Panthers for the past four seasons. The team finished on a losing record every time, putting McCaffrey in a position not much different from Barry Sanders.

With that, McCaffrey committed to working with the team in 2020 with a four-year, $64 million extension, making it the highest-grossing NFL in NFL history at the time, but the team is now tasked with making a tough decision. If it was time to rebuild, they would have to do without McCaffrey.

Peter Schrager of the NFL Network wanted to dispel the myth that the Panthers are looking to have their best talent on both sides of the ball. As Schrager describes it, the Panthers “listen,” but they wouldn’t sell McCaffrey or any defensive star for less than they’re worth.

Christian McCaffrey’s potential trade faces stiff competition in a crowded financial market

McCaffrey may be a challenge to sell not only because of the high asking price, but because the NFL may see “the richest, deepest free agent RB class” in NFL history, according to Adam Scheffer.

The Broncos, Seahawks, and Bills are just a few teams in desperate need of a comeback like McCaffrey, but teams may also have the pick of Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs and David Montgomery, to name a few.

The Panthers are already in a tough spot after Rhule’s release as they stare at the 1-4 record. McCaffrey’s trade could be a win for both teams involved, if at all, but it would be a huge steal.
