Cleveland Guardians’ Josh Naylor had a fun celebration when he hit solo at home off New York Yankees shooter Gerrit Cole in Game 4 of ALDS.
The Cleveland Guardians had a chance to finish their AL Division series against the New York Yankees with a Game 4 victory on Sunday. The Yankees led 3-0 early in the game, but the Cleveland caught them later in the game.
At the bottom of the fourth inning, Guardians-designated hitter Josh Naylor took a ball from Yankees ace Gerrett Cole and sent it over the center field wall to begin his solo career at home. Cleveland’s deficit was reduced to 3-2 in the process. But everyone is talking about Nellore’s celebration.
As Naylor circled the rules, he “shook the baby” in front of Cole, and seemed to tell the Guardians dugout “It’s my little king son.”
Explanation of Josh Naylor’s celebration at home
For those wondering about the meaning behind Nellore’s “Baby Rock” celebration, there isn’t much behind it.
MLB.com’s Guardians reporter Mandy Bell asked bowler Triston Mackenzie about the celebration earlier in October. “When my colleagues hit people, he calls them his son,” MacKenzie responded.
Here you are. There is an explanation.
Naylor has shown in the past that he gets pumped up when he hits the house. Look no further than when the Chicago White Sox played again on May 9.
The Guardians are looking to create the ALCS for the first time since 2016. If they don’t win Game 4, they will have to return to the Bronx to face the Yankees in Game 5 win or go home.
