SAG-AFTRA drops the star-studded National Book Month promotion

To celebrate National October Book Month, SAG-AFTRA has released a new promotional video for its Storyline Online reading initiative featuring actors and child literacy advocates Nancy Cartwright, Terry Crews, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Garner, Joel McHale and Seth Meyers.

Endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers, Reading Initiative also offers free educational activity guides aligned with the Common Core. The guides provide supplemental educational resources and support for teachers in the classroom, as well as for parents with school-age children at home.

“All kids need to know is that while you may have close friends in the real world, here at Storyline Online, you have book friends,” Garner says in the video.

Garner, along with the rest of the video crew, has read Storyline Online for the past two years. All participating talents donate their time to the initiative to help raise awareness and support for SAG-AFTRA’s Children’s Literacy Program, which has garnered more than 900 million views worldwide since 2001.

“We have so much gratitude to those who shared their talents and talents to truly bring this program to heights we could never have imagined,” said Courtney B. Vance, President of SAG-AFTRA. “Storyline Online has proven to be an essential resource for hundreds of millions of families around the world during the height of the coronavirus outbreak while school is running from home, and we continue to see its educational impact as students adjust to personal classrooms.”
