Michigan’s social media has played its part in trying to take over rival Michigan

Michigan State just took another L, this time in farewell week, in an effort to beat Michigan.

The Michigan State Spartans social media team showed little brother huge energy in their unsuccessful attempt to beat Big Brother Michigan Wolverines ahead of their game of competition this weekend.

Although the game between the Spartans and Wolverines won’t last until Week 9 with both teams on, Michigan State can’t afford more L in the Big Ten play. While Mel Tucker’s side took an extra-time win over their alma mater Wisconsin last week to take 3-4, Sparti was riding a disastrous four-game sled before defeating the Badgers at the weekend.

Feeling super cocky after outsmarting these awesome, bad Badgers, Michigan State football tweeted an upside-down drawing of the Michigan M in the lead-up to their next game. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what an inverted M looks like. That would be W! This would be the equivalent of the Detroit Lions rocking an L on a hat for the Lions. Oh wait, they did!

As expected, this tweet was deleted by Michigan State Football, but thank you for the screenshots!

Michigan State’s social media team caused the Spartans to lose again

While pot eligibility is still possible at the moment, Sparty is in poor shape in a season that has been hugely disappointing for Michigan State. The Spartans won ten regular season games a year ago and defeated ACC champion Pitt in the Peach Bowl. Pat Nardozy hated every second of that loss. Fast forward so far, Michigan State 3-4 (1-3) faces Three teams arranged to move forward

Not to say it would take a special disaster to beat Michigan at The Big House, but the Wolverines look dominant. They won the Big Ten a year ago and could repeat this season if they beat Ohio State at The Horseshoe. After the Michigan game, the Spartans will have to face the Illinois Fighting Illinois escalator at Brett Pelima in Champaign. This team might win the Big Ten West.

While Michigan State could technically afford to lose those two games, the Spartans would need a win to go bowling at 6-6. That would require a home win over Rutgers and Indiana, as well as beating the Penn State contender at Happy Valley over Thanksgiving weekend. Although it remains to be seen if the Nittany Lions will still rank at that point in the season, Michigan State will not.

Ultimately, the Spartans need to find a way to regain all that lost momentum from last season. I mean, Michigan State is paying Tucker a fortune to help make the Spartans the new Oregon Ducks of the Big Ten. The reinforcements are all aligned, with Michigan having the staffing resources and financial capital to pull this off. However, Tuck Coming isn’t hitting like it used to. That must change.

If there is any consolation prize for this, the Spartans have defeated Wolverine twice in a row…
