It looks like the Green Bay Packers and Odell Beckham Jr. are headed for each other. A recent injury makes it more convenient.
The Green Bay Packers’ offense has not been fatal so far this year. 27th in average points per lead and 15th in yards, that wasn’t what Packers fans expected from an attack led by Aaron Rodgers.
Ahead of the season, a lot has been achieved about the Green Bay receivers and whether they are up to the task of replacing Davante Adams – who traded with the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason – by the commission. So far, it looks like it might not.
Green Bay already has 1,355 yards through six games — which is pretty close to what it had last year at this point: 1,404 — but no receiver has come close to what Adams pulled as a major receiver last year. They are also averaging fewer yards per pass attempt (6.22) this season than they put in last year (7.27).

Teams with such a weapon can often take advantage of not only this receiver’s big plays but also the oomph they create in drawing the attention of opposing defenses away, creating opportunities for other receivers.
With this injury come contingency plans ideas. An obvious move would be to consider Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham will fill the need for the Packers immediately with Cobb out and he looks like a threat for the rest of the season as well, helping them get things back on track. If the Packers could simply use Aaron Jones better and run the ball more, they could get their basics back on track and win some games.
One problem is that Beckham’s willingness is not fully known. He suffered a rip in the AFC Super Bowl and is still ostensibly on the path to recovery for that. Moreover, it appears that Beckham wants to return to the rams, and could use negotiations with other teams to raise the price of Rams’ offer, which he considered too low.
It will be interesting to see who wins the OBJ sweepstakes this time around.
