Troy Aikman shoots Russell Wilson for misunderstanding (video)

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and ESPN commentator Troy Aikman fired a shot at Broncos QB Russell Wilson for missing an easy pass for the first time.

It’s been a rough start to the season for Russell Wilson, and Troy Aikman made matters worse on Monday for football.

Wilson got off to an excellent start, completing his first six passes for over 100 yards and touchdowns in the first quarter. But, one of them missed the third pass and Ekman was in control of it.

Denver started the game 2-3 on the season, thanks in part to Nathaniel Hackett’s grueling debut. For his part, Wilson didn’t look great, but all of Hackett was playing due to injury.

Bronco’s Russell Wilson continues to suffer

The organization supports Wilson, despite the impatience of the fan base.

“Everything is getting a lot of pain right now. The season started with five games, five games we were all working together, still getting to know each other, Russell getting to know the team, the team getting to know him,” Hackett said. “The same for me, when you’re in those very critical situations, how would people react. What plays would perhaps be our goals, what we want to achieve… It’s about our understanding of what we want to go for when we need to.”

Despite his struggles, Wilson refused to change his process or practice routine. It worked out for him in Seattle, though those are different times.

“I’ve had hard times before and come out on the other end of it – I went to playoffs and all that other cool stuff,” Wilson said Friday. “Everything we want is still in front of us. We have to play great this week and keep going.”

Wilson is not the same double-threat quarterback he was before. He has to rely solely on his arm, and that’s been a struggle so far this year. Missing readings like the ones Ekman pointed out above won’t help.
