The upcoming college football rankings will be greatly affected by Oregon’s handling of UCLA at Autzen and LSU’s troublesome Ole Miss at Death Valley.
Two of the top 10 teams fell late in the afternoon in Week 8, as UCLA’s No. 9 couldn’t hang up with Oregon’s No. 10 at Autzen and the No. 7 Ole Miss remained in trouble at Baton Rouge versus the LSU unranked team.
After seeing Team Syracuse win a golden opportunity at Clemson, Death Valley proved to be the death of the day for the visiting teams ranked. Although orange No. 14 could have won at Clemson, Lane Kevin’s rebels ran off the track at Tiger Stadium, as LSU’s Brian Kelly improved to 6-2. This means his family will be going bowling this holiday season. Put a zero, smokey. You crossed the line!
With ducks flying together, UCLA looking soft as Charmaine again and Kevin checking his pulse as his daughter spent another $700 at Zara, Saturday night in Baton Rouge is going to be awesome.
How on Earth will AP voters decide what to do before the Week 9 game?
College football rankings updated after Ole Miss and UCLA fall at LSU and Oregon
Here’s what the AP Top 25 poll could look like after what we’ve seen so far on Saturday…
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Ohio Bucks
- Tennessee Volunteers
- Michigan Wolverines
- Clemson Tigers
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Oregon Ducks
- Horned Frog TCU
- Oklahoma Cowboys
- USC Trojans
- Wake Forest Demon Deacons
- Ole Miss Rebels
- UCLA Bruins
- Utah Yuts
- Penn State Nittany Lions
- Kansas State Wildcats
- Illinois fighting Illini
- Syracuse orange
- Kentucky Wildcats
- Cincinnati Bearcats
- North Carolina Tar Heels
- North Carolina Wolfpack
- LSU . Tigers
- Mississippi Cowboys
- Tulane Green Wave
The top five hasn’t changed, no matter how much Clemson would like it to happen. Alabama holds sixth place, assuming the Crimson Tide cares about business versus the Mississippi State team we can’t believe they ranked anyway. Oregon moved up to seventh with a UCLA win. TCU is number 8, but we need to watch the Kansas State game first. Oklahoma State and the University of Southern California top the top ten.
The truth is, the Ole Miss and UCLA are not far behind in the next college football rankings to be released on Sunday afternoon. The Rebels go to number 12, while UCLA comes in at number 13. As far as mullet bluffs erupt between Texas and Oklahoma, the long pods have run out of gas to be emptied again, while the pokes are still inside. The loss of the TCU down the road is still painful, but they are not dead.
Ultimately, those rankings will shake up a bit after 90 Mile Drive and K-State vs. TCU and Minnesota in Penn State hit the score. Admittedly, it’s not the strongest college football on Saturday with so many high-quality teams in the farewell weeks. However, the first two windows lived up to the hype with a handful of great games and timely turbulence for the enjoyment of fans everywhere.
Oregon, UCLA and Texas will need to pick up the pieces after suffering their eighth week of losses now.
