Did Jiu Orcella just shoot the Yankees to trade him off?

Gio Orchila may have just snapped a shot of Brian Cashman and the New York Yankees to swap him.

What seemed like a magical season for the New York Yankees fell apart once he faced adversity. The Houston Astros proved to be a much better team when they swept the Yankees at home.

Important issues on the list highlight the end of the entire Bronx Bomber season. They clearly have a lot of talent. Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton highlight the offensive side of things, with Jose Trevino, Harrison Bader and Anthony Rizzo highlighting the defensive, non-shooting side. The starting team is great too, led by All-Stars Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes.

There are significant issues, though, and one of them stems from the trade that landed team Josh Donaldson, and it looks like Jio Orchila sent a shot at the Yankees regarding that trade.

This trade can already be debated and its validity or invalidity, despite how bad it looks. We’ll get to Urshela’s comments, but here’s the trade, as a reminder:

  • Yankees Ward: 3B Josh Donaldson; SS Isaiah Kenner Valiva; C. Ben Roortvedt
  • Next twins: C Gary Sanchez; 3B/SS Geo Orchila

For a while, the trade seemed to unlock a lot of good for the Yankees. It allowed them to move Gleyber Torres from a short position to his more natural position in second base, giving him the confidence to have a year of rebounding back and a better year off the field. She also unlocked DJ Lemahieu as an all-around escort wherever he was needed every night.

Positive results of the second and third order of trade should not be ignored.

Despite the positives, it started to stagnate and made the negatives stand out. Kiner-Falefa wasn’t the defensive player the Yankees thought they were getting, as they committed the fifth most field fouls in MLB. Donaldson failed to find success for most of the season, putting his OPS+ below 100 for the first time since 2012.

Looks like Jiu Urschel is casting some shadow over the Yankees’ loss

Jio Orcella was a great third man for the Yankees. Let’s remember he put his body to the test for striped lines in 2021:

He was likable, and seeing him go into the twins trade felt bad, but at the time it looked as if the trade could be an ultimate upgrade, especially since the Yankees got rid of the frustrated Gary Sanchez to watch in 2021.

Here’s what he tweeted Monday morning, just hours after the Astros swept the Yankees:

The inclusion of the coffee emoji made us think of Kermit’s tea drinking meme… Geo Ho just “minds his own business”, but very well could allude to the fact that the Yankees are trading him which made their land “much better” really didn’t do that at all. In the end, he brought the Yankees a little closer to the world championship, but still far from where they intended to be.

Do you think it’s just a routine tweet? I don’t know about that! The last time he tweeted anything other than retweeting other accounts was on April 17th. It’s not like tweeting “Good morning” for no reason.

So, yeah, maybe some shade from Geo. We kind of like it

Geo may not be the only player to leave New York and become an opponent soon…
