The Houston Astros learned a lesson Friday night that three other National League teams have already caught up this season: Never count the Philadelphia Phillies.
In Game One of the 2022 World Series on Friday, the Houston Astros jumped to a 5-0 lead through three rounds and then watched the Philadelphia Phillies advance for the win. 6-5 in 10 runs. JT Realmuto made the difference in the 10th inning with a solo blast, completing the Phillies comeback.
Game two is scheduled for Saturday in Houston, with the first game scheduled to begin at 8:03 p.m. (ET). The game, along with all the World Championship competitions, will be broadcast by FOX.

Allowing five runs over five rounds Friday night, Verlander’s career eight-round World Championship starts at 6.07, the highest for any bowler with over 30 rounds thrown at the Fall Classic.
Perfect through three rounds, the latter two were a nightmare for Verlander and Astros as the Phillies found their groove and erased Houston’s early momentum. The 39-year-old right-hander conceded six strokes and walked twice on those last two runs.
“My team gave me a five-game lead, and I couldn’t keep it,” Verlander said after the match. “I feel really confident 99 percent of the time that I’m able to hold that lead, and unfortunately today, I haven’t.”
Verlander will get his chance at redemption and will likely start game five in Philadelphia unless the Phillies finish the series in four. However, this postseason, Verlander has a 7.20 ERA in three starts, and looks anything like AL Cy Young’s favorite.
