The Ohio State Bucks only won a 21-7 win over Northwestern, and the college football media criticized Ryan Day.

The Ohio State Buckeyes entered Week 10 as second overall in the first college football rankings of the season. Their opponents this week were against the Northwestern Wildcats, who have only won a game this season, and have been in seven straight games.

Ohio State had to battle gale force winds at Ryan Field, scoring just seven points and 118 yards in total attack. The Buckeyes managed to bounce back in the second half, preventing the Wildcats from making it to the end zone again, and taking the win, 21-7.

The college football media was surprised by how bad Ohio State’s first-half spell against Northwestern was.

Northwestern got the plate first when Evan Hull ran for a 16-yard touchdown. Ohio State won’t make it to the end zone until just over two minutes left in the first half when wide receiver Emeka Egbuka ran for a 15-yard drop.

Ohio State’s next touchdown for the game came from running back Mian Williams. His first run was 27 yards for six minutes in the third quarter. Then, with just over four minutes left in regulation, Williams took the win with a two-yard touchdown run.

Quarterback CJ Stroud hasn’t set extravagant numbers this week, completing 10 of 26 pass attempts for just 76 yards. Running game took the slack, gaining 207 yards on 35 buggies.

Ohio State’s offense was 4 for 15 on the third diversion, but a 2 for 4 finish in fourth. Meanwhile, Northwestern 9 for 20 was third, but 0 for 4 was fourth.

The college football world will wait and see how the CFP selection committee will present their Week 10 performance, and whether they drop them in the rankings. This will definitely be a story to follow during Tuesday’s reveal.
