Which college football coach gets the heat?

A win or two would make college football coaches a good scientist in November.

Six Power Five and three Group Five jobs are now available throughout Major College Football.

Last week saw Auburn take off the first aid bandage from Brian Harsin’s disaster. While South Florida isn’t the Power Five, it became clear to all of us that Jeff Scott wasn’t the right guy for the job in Tampa. No bull, there will be a few add-ons open between now and Christmas, and possibly some interesting ones via Power Five. So who could be here soon?

Here are five Power Five coaches who need to win the worst way in Week 11 and beyond.

California Golden Bears (3-6)

Justin Wilcox’s California Golden Bears lost five Pac-12 games in a row

While this sounds like one of the best years of Pac-12 football in quite some time, the same can’t be said for Justin Wilcox and the wobbly California Golden Bears football program. Cal started the year 3-1 with a narrow defeat to Notre Dame in South Bend. Unfortunately, they dropped their five worst PAC 12 games in the league since losing to Wazzu at Pullman.

Although the Golden Bears won in a convention over Arizona, they lost on the way to Colorado, which is arguably the worst Power Five in the country right now. While they nearly disturbed USC in Los Angeles on Saturday night, there are only a fair number in horseshoes and grenades. Cal must win to go bowling now at 3-6. They have it in Oregon, the house opposite Stanford and the house opposite the University of California.

Since the Beavers and Bruins have achieved pot eligibility, Cal probably won’t reach 6-6…
