“All beauty and bloodshed” dozens of fresh sales

Britain’s Altitude Film Sales and US-based participating media have announced a slew of new sales of Laura Poitras’ document All Beauty and Bloodshed, which won the Golden Lion at this year’s Venice Film Festival.

The high-profile document on American artist and activist Nan Golden and her battle to hold the Sackler family accountable for the opioid overdose crisis, which also played out in Toronto and New York, was acquired by Madman for Australia and New Zealand; Cineart for Benelux and Pyramide Films for France.

More deals were also concluded with Klockworx (Japan); Strada (Greece); Sun Distribution Group (Latin America); Leopard (Portugal); antigravity (Poland); MCF (the former Yugoslavia); Nonstop (Scandinavia / Baltic States); Shalan (South Korea); Hooray Films (Taiwan); Film Europe (Czech/Slovakia); Filmarty (Turkey) and Front Row Entertainment for the Middle East. Previously announced deals include Plaion (formerly Koch Media) for German-speaking Europe, I Wonder for Italy and Filmin for Spain.

It’s the fifth documentary directed by Poitras, who won an Oscar for Edward Snowden’s documentary “Citizenfour,” and is “a portrait of Golden, a skilful and satisfying portrait, though not a traditional autobiographical,” Variety group president Owen wrote.
