Free Shortstop agent Trea Turner has some interest from a National League World Championship competitor.
MLB’s free agency officially kicks off Thursday, November 10 at 5:00 p.m. ET, allowing teams to bring in some of the best players available to improve the odds of competing for the World Championship for the foreseeable future. One of the best free agents will be Shortstop Trea Turner, who just finished the season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Free agency is set to receive a lot of attention, and now there’s a competitor to watch.
During an appearance at the 97.5 Fateful in Philadelphia, sports writer Jason Stark said “there was some grumbling that Tria Turner wanted to be here.” That’s right, being in Philadelphia to play the Phillies.
It looks like Tria Turner is interested in joining the Phillies
Imagine if the Phillies, who had failed to win the World Championship against the Houston Astros in two games, managed to bring in one of the best short stopping points available in the free agency. This would be the right thing for them.
Last season, Turner reached the All-Star Game for the second time in his career and played a role in the Dodgers winning the NL West title.
Turner scored .298 hitting average, .343 on percentage basis, .466 slowdown, 21 home run, 100 RBI and 194 hits in 160 regular season games. Turner led the league in (652) games and plate (708).
Velez fans will be waiting to see how the team will look to boost their 2023 roster. If they can sign Turner, they could be considered the favorites to drop out of the National League for the second year in a row.
