Results of the direct budget evaluation between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira

UFC 281: Israel Adesanya results vs Alex Pereira.

The UFC is back in New York City for the first time since UFC 268 last November, and it’s another pay-per-view method. The card is titled middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and his former kickboxing competitor Alex Pereira. In the co-main event, Carla Esparza is looking for her first strawweight title defense against former champ Zhang Weili, and in the featured bout, we have another contender in Battle of the Year with Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler.

Israel Adesanya has not lost as a middleweight and is looking to expand his title defenses to six, in order to do so, he will have to beat a familiar opponent, Alex Pereira. Pereira has two wins over “Stylebender” in kickboxing and is looking to make it three in total on Saturday night to win the championship.

Carla Esparza was the first strawweight champion in UFC history, winning the Ultimate Fighter title and belt in 2014, but lost it in her next fight. Eight years later, Esparza took home the gold after defeating Rose Namajunas, once again, for the belt. Looking to not allow history to repeat itself, Esparza battles former champion Zhang Weili, searching for that title defense that eluded him.

Michael Chandler and Justin Gethje gave us Battle of the Year in this same building 12 months ago, and the UFC is hoping for more of the same this year by matching Chandler to Dustin Poirier. The two contenders are also looking to return to the title picture. Rounding out the card are some exciting bouts in heavyweight Dominic Reyes and Ryan Spahn, flyweight powerlifters Erin Blanchfield and Molly McCann, and light heavyweight Matt Frivola and Atman Azitar.
