DeVonta Smith reveals the secret to the Eagles’ incredible success in 2022

DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, revealed what the team learned last year and helped them get off to a successful start to the 2022 season.

The NFL enters the 10th week of the 2022 season, and one team remains undefeated – the Philadelphia Eagles. Just last year, the team made the playoffs with a number 9-8 as the Wild Card team. Now, they’re entering Week 10, and a perfect 8-0 enter a pivotal match against rival Washington leaders.

In an interview with The Spun’s Chris RosvoglouSmith was asked about the biggest difference for the Eagles between last year and this year.

“I think we know the identity of the team,” Smith said. “Last year we figured we needed to run the ball more. Once we did that, we started getting better every week. This year, we can do either or [run it or throw it]. It just depends on who we play and how the match goes. Everyone gets along and communicates well. That camaraderie has taken us away.”

Last season, the Eagles led the league in fast yards with 2,715 yards and a touchdown with 25 yards. That team helped grab the NFC Wild Card dock. However, the playoff round ended in the opening round, and they lost 31-15 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This off-season, the Eagles’ front office acquired wide receiver AJ Brown from the Tennessee Titans in a deal, immediately signing him to a four-year, $100 million contract. That provided midfielder Galen Hurts with another goal in a passing game.

Through eight games this season, the Eagles have averaged 242.3 yards (the ninth most in the NFL) and 148.8 yards (sixth most) per game.

In his second season in the NFL after his 10th pick overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Smith scored 40 receptions for 442 yards and two touchdowns on 53 goals.

The Eagles are looking to continue their unbeaten season and stay at the top of both the Dallas Cowboys (6-2) and the New York Giants (6-2) by defeating the captains who won three of their previous four games in Week 10.
