Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira live match results and results

UFC 281: Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira live scores.

A stacked UFC card arrives at Madison Square Garden in New York tonight, where the Big Apple host two title fights, including one featuring a lot of bad blood.

In the main event, Israel Adesanya defends the UFC Middleweight Championship against Alex Pereira.

The two have a long history dating back to their kickboxing days. Pereira won both competitions in April 2016 and March 2017, the latter seeing Adesanya stretch after losing consciousness.

This will be Adesanya’s sixth attempt to defend the UFC middleweight title after becoming the undisputed champion at UFC 243.

Since winning the title from Robert Whitaker, Adesanya has had successful defenses against Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, Marvin Vittori, Whitaker and Jared Cannonier. Adesanya’s only MMA loss came when he challenged then-UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz.

Pereira, who won middleweight and lightweight gold with GLORY Kickboxing, fought three MMA fights at Jungle Fight between 2015 and 2016, as well as a singles fight at the LFA in 2020, before joining the UFC.

Pereira’s tenure in the UFC so far has seen Andreas Michailidis finish at UFC 268, score a decision on Bruno Silva in March and beat Shaun Strickland at UFC 276.

The co-main event will see the UFC women’s strawweight title on the line, as Carla Esparza battles former champ Willie Chang.

Esparza, who became the inaugural champion in 2014, comes into this match in a six-game winning streak. Esparza’s second title reign began in May at UFC 274, where she recorded a split decision victory over Rose Namajunas in one of the most boring fights in UFC history.

Zhang became the heavyweight champion by ending the first round of Jesica Andrade in August 2019. After holding it against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in one of MMA’s greatest fights, Zhang lost the title to Namajunas at UFC 261 and lost the rematch at UFC 268. Zhang enters this fight by knockout to Jedrzejczyk at UFC 275.

The card will also feature a much-anticipated lightweight bout between former interim champ Dustin Poirier and former Bellator champ Michael Chandler. Frankie Edgar will also take part in his retirement fight, where he will face Chris Gutierrez.
