College football media stunned by the futile first half of TCU-Texas

The media and college football fans expected the TCU vs. Texas crime to come to light. The first half of the three-point shocked everyone.

Texas and TCU were supposed to light up the scoreboard on Saturday night with their crimes. It was supposed to be Queen Ewers against Max Duggan. Steve Sarkissian vs. Sonny Dykes. easy end.

Instead, the first half was a defensive stalemate with exactly three points and 140 yards between the two teams. Both sides shot five times each.

The TCU averaged 0.3 yards per lunge. Texas was 0-6 in the third defeats.

It’s as if someone took the essence of Thursday night NFL football and injected it into what should have been one of the most exciting games on the college football slate.

Of course, bettors shouldn’t give up on that too soon. TCU is a second half team while the Ewers and Longhorns can play it.

Sometimes sports offer just the last thing you’d expect. Games that you expect to be all about defense turn into shooting. And games that you would expect to score high seem like the intensity of the attack.

Trust the defenses on both sides to stay on top of things and flip the narrative around.

This one is important for both teams. TCU has a chance to hold a College Football Playoff if they can remain undefeated for the remainder of the Big 12 schedule. The Texans don’t have CFP aspirations this year, but they can still contend for the Big 12 Championship if they play spoiler for Horned Frogs.
