Mississippi fans angry at Georgia, who was described as dead

Mississippi State thought they had a clear recovery against Georgia, but the governors called the play dead.

The Georgia Bulldogs are the only unbeaten team remaining in the SEC, and they hold a perfect 9-0 entry into Week 11. All they need to do is win another conference game to seal a place in the title match against the LSU Tigers. The Mississippi State Bulldogs were looking to play a spoiler and hand Georgia their first loss of the season.

Some Mississippi fans may have felt the blow was out of the team, thanks in part to a controversial call from the referees in the first half. Georgia ran back Dijon Edwards the ball, but got it wrong, which Mississippi State reclaimed. The problem is that the judges decided the play was dead before it faltered.

It’s safe to say there were people who weren’t happy, based on the tweets.

Mississippi fans felt the referees did their job after they overturned the referee in Georgia

The play’s referees called for a quick death after Edwards hit the pile and then stripped the football of his grip.

Georgia had a 17-3 lead behind Stetson Bennett’s pass to land at the end of the Brock Bowers court and a drop from the quarterback. Mississippi State managed to cut the deficit to 17-12 before the break. With 51 seconds left, Massimo Biscardi scored a 36-yard field goal. Then, after forcing Xavion Thomas to a three-kick, he returned Punt’s kick for a 63-yard touchdown.

After the first half, ESPN reporter Molly McGrath asked Mississippi State coach Mike Leach about his reaction to the calls in the first half, and he had a full answer.

“What is your reaction? You are watching the same match I am,” Leach said. “I think you should comment on it positively or negatively, whatever is on your mind.”

While the missed call will be something Mississippi State fans will remember in the first half, they can’t hide the fact that they managed to put together nine points in less than a minute before the break.
