Washington ends Oregon’s playoff dreams narrowly: College football’s reaction

Michael Benicks Jr. and Washington ended Oregon football dreams and essentially sealed the Bo Knicks Heisman hopes.

Oregon and Washington played game of the year so far at PAC 12 on Saturday night. If you missed it, you missed an incredible one.

Husky and Ducks were both swinging in the second half in a quarterback duel for the ages between Bo Knics and Michael Benicks Jr.

It was Bennix who outplayed Knicks, who attempted to lead a winning campaign on his injured ankle.

The result eliminated Oregon from the college football game while hurting Nix Heisman’s hopes.

Here’s how the college football media reacted to the amusing penalty shootout.

The game was packed with standout plays, from Penix’s great late throw to the Knicks’ deep shot. It was also not without controversy.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning will face questions about his decision to go fourth on the duck side of the field with the game tied and less than two minutes to play. Oregon failed to convert and establish a field target for Washington.

As the rulers had their say. Oregon seemed to complete a pass to reach the goal range in the final seconds. Officials hit the ducks with a suspicious illegal contact penalty to get them out of goal range.

Of course, it was after accusations that an Oregon recipient faked an injury to give the Ducks a chance to set up that play instead of having to score the ball.

Whatever bluffs that went on, Washington won and Oregon suffered its first loss in the Pac-12 game.
