Al-Hazm are missing an opportunity to usher in the era of love for Jordan

The Green Bay Packers missed an opportunity to determine if Jordan Love is the quarterback of the future.

The Green Bay Packers are sitting at 4-7 on the season, not exactly a regular season juggernaut like they were last year. The Packers clearly don’t have the same wide receiving room, which contributed to the lack of an explosion. As it turns out, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been dealing with an injury for some time.

This Wednesday, Rodgers confirmed he fractured his right thumb in the team’s final game of the team’s Week 5 game against the New York Giants, and has played in it ever since.

While it’s hard to get Rodgers off the football field because of his competitiveness, this was actually a missed opportunity by the Packers. If they sat Rodgers out to heal, it would have given the team a chance to assess Jordan’s love further.

Packers miss an opportunity to further assess Jordan’s love before making a pivotal off-season decision

In the 2020 NFL Draft, players traded up to the 26th overall pick Love out of Utah State. It was quite clear with this pick that the team was preparing for Rodgers’ eventual exit, whether it be through free agency, trade, or retirement at the time.

Love has only started one game over the years, and that was in 2021 when Rodgers was sidelined after testing positive for COVID-19. In that game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Love completed 19 of 34 pass attempts for 190 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Besides this game, love does not begin.

Getting some extra looks is extremely important, because they have a big decision to make after this season. Since Love is finishing up his third season, the Packers have to decide whether to exercise his fifth-year option, which could get very expensive. They can choose to raise the exorbitant price, or decline it to allow Love to walk after the 2023 season.

There is a possibility that Love could start at the end of the season if the Packers are eliminated from playoff contention. Regardless, they missed out on a possible evaluation process after Rodgers injured his thumb.
