This college football Rivalry Week games stood out from the rest this year.

While beating the opposition is always important, some of the college football games played during Rivalry Week have a lot more at stake than just pride within the state or region.

With seven teams still alive to make the College Football Playoff, there are only a few games left that a potential National Championship candidate can be a part of. Fortunately, there are three games with more on the line this weekend. You definitely want to watch these games unfold. In the aftermath, we will have a better understanding of the CFP.

Here are the three college football games with the most at stake heading into Saturday.

College Football Playoff: The 3 games most at stake during Rivalry Week

3. LSU MUST beat Texas A&M at College Station to survive the playoff

Although SEC West winner LSU shouldn’t have any business sponsorship issues versus an ineligible Texas A&M team, the Bayou Bengals will play a huge role in shaping how the College Football Playoff picture is put together over the coming weekends. In short, they have to beat an abysmal Texas A&M team in College Station to have any chance of reaching the playoffs this season.

That’s because, at 10-2 (7-1), LSU could theoretically enter the playoff as the first losing Power Five champion. They’ll have to beat Georgia in Atlanta to do that. If that’s the case, USC, Clemson, and the loser of the game won’t be in control of their own destiny. TCU and the winner of the game won’t be hit hard, but LSU’s crash of the party will be pretty wild.

Of course, none of this would be even remotely possible if LSU somehow lost to the Aggies…
