See how the MMA community reacts to Larissa Pacheco defeating previously undefeated Kayla Harrison in a 2022 PFL Women’s Lightweight Title fight
2022 in MMA continues to be full of surprises as it enters its final month, and that was further demonstrated during the 2022 PFL Championship, the PFL’s first-ever pay-per-view event.
The main event saw probably the biggest upset in the promotion’s history to date, as Larissa Pacheco scored a close unanimous decision victory over Kayla Harrison to win the 2022 women’s lightweight title.
Harrison is now suffering the first loss of her MMA career, and Pacheco has avenged two previous losses โ the second came when the two met in the inaugural division tournament in 2019.

After Harrison was in firm control in the first round with her dominant floor position, Pacheco appeared to rock Harrison during the second round, at one point making it into a tight guillotine attempt. Harrison would fight back and score an arm try but not before he was forced back due to Pacheco’s force.
Harrison’s attempts to bring Pacheco back down on third down were met with a slam dunk by Pacheco from down. Pacheco threatened a triangle choke, but Harrison overtook him and attempted a late third stage finish with ground and poundโto no avail.
The final two rounds saw Pacheco fight through Harrison’s attempts to score a takedown with her defense or fist. Even when the fight was on the ground, Pacheco seemed to have read up on Harrison and showed more effective grappling and control.
In the end, the three judges scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Pacheco.
The PFL Championship takes place on Friday, November 25, 2022, live from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on site for all the news and highlights.
