Alabama dismantles Auburn in an Iron Bowl to finish on a high note: CFB media react

The Alabama Crimson Tide recorded their 10th win of the season by defeating the Auburn Tigers 49-27 in the Iron Bowl on Saturday.

The Alabama Crimson Tide suffered two heartbreaking losses to the Tennessee Volunteers and LSU Tigers in the space of three weeks, virtually ending any chance of making the College Football Playoff. But since then, they have managed to win their next match, including one against the Ole Miss Rebels. They had the opportunity to finish their regular season on a high note by defeating the Auburn Tigers in the Iron Bowl.

That’s exactly what the Crimson Tide did, as they pulled off a massive 49-27 victory over the Tigers to win the Iron Roller for the third year in a row. With that win, and the chaos in the rest of the college football world (Ohio State’s loss to Michigan, Clemson’s loss to South Carolina), the debate over whether Alabama could make the playoffs began.

Let’s take a look at what members of the college football world took away from Alabama’s victory over Auburn.

Fans will surely be waiting to see how far Alabama will jump in the next rankings after this win.

Auburn got on the scoreboard first with a 24-yard touchdown run by quarterback Robbie Ashford. From there, Alabama responded with three touchdowns. Just when there was hope for the Tigers after narrowing the lead to 28-14, Alabama responded with another three touchdown run. This type of game was for Alabama and Auburn.

Quarterback Bryce Young put in a solid performance in what could be his last home game at Bryant-Denny Stadium, as he qualifies for the NFL Draft after this season. Young completed 20 of 30 pass attempts for 343 yards, three touchdown attempts and one interception.

As for Auburn, they had 100-yard sprints at Ashford and Jarquis Hunter. Ashford ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns, while Hunter caught 134 yards and 11 carries.

Alabama’s success continued under head coach Nick Saban, as the program won ten games in a season for the fifteenth straight year.

The Crimson Tide finishes its regular season on a high note. Now, they await their fate regarding the bowl game they will play after the conference championship games next week.
